- Mindset: before going to gym have a plan and the right mindset
- When you get to gym greet anyone you want to greet so they don't come and interfere with your workout later. Get that out of the way first so you don't have to choose between snobbing a fellow gym goer or letting people interrupt your workout. Associating with others is also a part of fitness.
- Make sure you have good form. Safety first. For instance, while squatting, if your form isn't right you could injure yourself.
- Know what to eat or drink before you workout for energy, and what not to. For a proper workout you need the energy to give you that push to keep going.
- Know what works for you. If your try a routine or program for 2 weeks - 1month and don't see any results, switch it up! If it works for you, make sure to push yourself as much as possible, because after a while, say 2 or 3 months, your body will get used to the routine, so your body will stop changing.
- Learn to rest. I have issues with this, because as a trainer, I’m always on the move. But after workouts, you should try and give yourself 30 minutes to 1 hour to nap or just catch your breath. That’s when your body repairs itself and grows. Nobody can control that, it will only happen when you rest.
