A cup of coffee for you skin?

Zinny Ofodum

I don’t know about you, but I love the rich aroma of coffee. There are some work days that I am as grumpy as the Grinch without my cup of joe, but when I get my vanilla latte I am good to go. As good as it tastes, it’s probably a good idea to drink it in moderation, as with anything, too much of a good thing could be a problem.
(See our article: "How much coffee is enough coffee?").
But did you know coffee has great effects on the skin? I mean, it even helps get rid of cellulite
Amazing right?
Here are a few other great reasons you should use coffee based products for your skin.

Antioxidant express(o)

Everywhere you go to in Nigeria, you are very likely to get stressed. Especially if you are in this Lagos. Drinking coffee may boost your brain activity ( and a little bit too much could add to that stress) but coffee is amazing for skin health. Flavonoids, antioxidants found in coffee beans are released when brewed. Antioxidants then go on to help reduce stress in your skin cells by fighting premature ageing of the skin due to heat, light, pollution, and damaging free radicals.

Antioxidants in coffee also do great things for your hair. Masks or hair products containing coffee prevent breakage and enhance shine.

No more eye bags

Caffeine causes the restriction of blood flow, so when you use an eye cream with some caffeine, there would be reduced swelling under the eye.

Scrub away the tired feeling.

Coffee scrubs smell nice, and aren't too harsh on the skin. Still, they are effective at exfoliating the skin and removing dead skin cells that can lead to breakouts, grimy feet, and more. Soft coffee grounds naturally exfoliate dead skin and will leave it silky smooth.

Less cellulite

As a diuretic, coffee creams and serums can temporarily minimize the visibility of cellulite by drawing fluid away from fat cells, essentially dehydrating the fat cells. This shrinks their size, resulting in a tightening effect from the outside. Keeping your body looking tight!

Calms your skin

The antioxidants in your skin serve yet another purpose as they reduce inflammation on the skin.

Wake up!

Yeah you could drink coffee to get over that brain drain, but coffee wakes up the skin too! By stimulating the epidermis, coffee improves blood flow making your skin appear radiant, bright, and full of life.
