You should know about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Stedman’s medical dictionary describes autism as “a mental disorder characterised by severely abnormal development of social interaction and verbal and non-verbal communication skills”. Individuals with this condition, present from early childhood therefore find it difficult to communicate and form relationships with others and in using language and abstract concepts.
A single cause of autism is unknown, however, it is generally accepted that it is caused by abnormalities in brain structure or function. The likelihood of developing autism as a child depends on various factors. Scientists suspect a genetic factor may determine autistic presence but other factors may include;
